Orgasm and Ejaculatory Dysfunction

Orgasm and Ejaculatory Dysfunction

Ejaculation and orgasm are separate bodily functions, each controlled by the nervous system. Disorders of these functions can be complex.

While there are currently no FDA-approved treatments, there are several options available, including behavioral modifications, medication, and topical treatments.

Delayed orgasm is a condition where it takes a long time to reach orgasm after becoming aroused.  In otherwise healthy and fit individuals, we consider exhaustion prior to orgasm leading to cessation of sexual activity evidence for this condition.  This is a common sexual issue with more than 14% of men aged 40-80 years reported difficulty achieving orgasm. There are both mechanical and pharmacologic treatment available.
