Varicoceles

Varicoceles

For those who do experience fertility issues and have a varicocele, repairing the varicocele can significantly improve fertility in about 60-70% of cases.

Varicoceles can cause a decline in sperm count over time, which is the most common cause of secondary infertility (unable to conceive after successful past pregnancies). Typically, the larger the varicocele, the higher the chance of it causing fertility related problems. It can impact sperm production on both sides, even if only found on one side. In addition, since varicoceles can have a negative impact on sperm production, one may note a smaller testicle on at least one side.

For those who do experience fertility issues and have a varicocele, repairing the varicocele can significantly improve fertility in about 60-70% of cases. This is a safe, minimally-invasive procedure that can be completed in one day, with minimal discomfort, when done by a fellowship-trained specialist.
